Our solution: Community
There are three tiers to our success in Haiti: Our clients, our relationship with the government, and our relationship with the communities in which we operate.
OsierCarbon has built an excellent relationship with the Mayor Mauclair Desir and his constituents: At the conclusion of our pilot program, the Mayor wrote to us, saying the following: ‘The Municipal Council of Leogane greets you, and also thanks you for the importance you have attach to the municipality of Leogane. In the framework of the reforestation of the commune, the council is pleased to give you the authorization in order to accomplish this mission with the aim of reforesting the environment according to your capacity of five-thousand trees. Relying on your collaboration, the council begs you, sir, to receive his distinguished greetings.’
Community involvement is core to getting long-term results-after all, the locals are the stewards of the land, and will be working with OsierCarbon during reforestation and subsequent business ventures.
The federal government is determined that benefits must accrue to the communities our operations touch, and our work in Leogane proves this is happening.
